The exhibition "Archipel secret [Secret Archipelago]" explores south-east Asia from the platform that is Singapore. Its multiple forms, aesthetic and cultural dimensions and intellectual practices were inherited from the history of its introduction to and confrontations with commerce, its belief system, its aristocratic dynasties and colonial incursions. Coveted for its natural resources - tin, rubber, spices and such well-known foodstuffs as pepper, sugar and coffee - the archipelago was also considered a place of have been invited to reflect its essence.

Buried Alive, 2015, recycled plastic shopping bags and aluminum wire, dimension variables,108 pieces, each: W 8 x L 19 x H 3 cm, W 10.5 x L 27.6 x H 4 cm, W 6.8 x L 24.2 x H 1.5 cm, overall dimensions: W 264 x L 339.5 x H 6 cm.

ฝังทั้งเป็น ๒๕๕๘ ถุงพลาสติก ลวดอลูมิเนียม ขนาดปรับเปลี่ยนตามพื้นที่ จำนวนทั้งหมด ๑๐๘ ชิ้น ขนาดของแต่ละชิ้น ๘ x ๑๙ x ๓ ซม. ๑๐.๕ x ๒๗.๖ x ๔ ซม. ๖.๘ x ๒๔.๒ x ๑.๕ ซม. ขนาดโดยรวมของผลงาน ๒๖๔ x ๓๓๙.๕ x ๖ ซม.

Concept: Some single-use plastic shopping bags are thrown away or buried in the ground -- while at the same time they can be reused or recycled. The plastic bags in this work represent the state of being disqualified and degraded. The coffin-shaped sculptures represent how short-lived the plastic shopping bags are. The installation also depicts a variety of materials and designs of plastic bags from different countries.

แนวคิด: ถุงพลาสติกบางถุงถูกนำไปทิ้งหรือถูกฝังลงดิน ทั้งที่ยังสามารถนำไปใช้ซ้ำได้ หรือยังไม่หมดอายุการใช้งาน สะท้อนให้เห็นถึงการถูกลดคุณค่า การถูกตัดสิทธิ ประติมากรรมรูปทรงโลงศพถูกนำมาใช้เพื่อชี้ให้เห็นถึงอายุการใช้งานที่สั้นของถุงพลาสติก ผลงานชิ้นนี้ยังนำเสนอเรื่องวัสดุหลากหลายชนิดที่นำมาทำถุงพลาสติกและลวดลายและการออกแบบถุงพลาสติกที่มีความแตกต่างกันในแต่ละประเทศ 

Sketches and making "Buried Alive"

The plastic bags have been collected since 2006 from different countries: Thailand, China, Spain, Taiwan, South Korea, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka. Special thanks to Cheau-Wen Jeng and Staffs at Taipei Artist Village for giving plastic bags.

The exhibition presents the thought and "work in progress" of the projects that each artist is exploring. A process is an ensemble of changes, transformations, by and by oriented to something new. The traces of the development process such as collecting data/found footage, sketch ideas, material testing, decision-making could be found in the exhibition. In this way, it is possible for viewer to enter the heart of the creation process, to look behind the scene of art creations.

เปลือก ๒๕๕๗ รีไซเคิลกล่องอาหารกลางวันไม้ไผ่ชนิดที่ใช้แล้วทิ้ง ขนาด ๒๘ x ๓๔.๕ x ๑๑.๙ ซม. ๒๑.๕ x ๒๕.๓ x ๑๖.๗ ซม. ๑๐.๗ x ๓๖ x ๑๔.๕ ซม. ขนาดโดยรวม ๓๖๒ x ๔๗๐ ซม.

Concept: The slowly expanding cracks on the TAV studio floor reminds me of a tree's annual growth ring. I've been thinking how many trees and bamboos are cut down each year to make chopsticks and lunch boxes. Consequently, I create the tree rings form with recycled disposable bamboo lunch boxes. The layers also used metaphorically to describe the complexity of human nature.

แนวคิด: พื้นของสตูดิโอที่ไทเปอาร์ตทิสต์วิลเลจค่อยๆกะเทาะออกทีละเล็กทีละน้อย ทำให้เกิดเป็นหลุมที่กว้างขึ้นเรื่อยๆ ทำให้ผมนึกถึงวงปีของต้นไม้ที่เพิ่มขึ้นเรื่อยๆตามวันเวลา พร้อมกันนั้นผมได้มานั่งคิดดูว่า ในแต่ละปีมีต้นไม้และไม้ไผ่จำนวนเท่าไหร่ ที่ถูกตัดเพื่อนำมาทำเป็นตะเกียบและกล่องอาหารกลางวัน ทำให้เกิดเป็นแรงบันดาลใจในการสร้างรูปทรงผลงานที่มีลักษณะคล้ายวงปีของต้นไม้ จากกล่องอาหารกลางวันไม้ไผ่รีไซเคิล การใช้ชั้นหลายๆชั้นในผลงานเพื่อสื่อถึงธรรมชาติของคนที่มีความสลับซับซ้อน
